Beavers, Bunnies, and Bears, Oh My! Beaverquest! The Musical Makes its World Premiere at Sacred Fools!
LOS ANGELES- The Sacred Fools Theater Company, in partnership with Onegoodlove.com, is proud to present the world premiere of Beaverquest! The Musical on March 28th, 2008. Beaverquest! began as part of Sacred Fools’ hit late night comedy show Serial Killers and follows the story of Bunny and Beaver as they search for love and acceptance in an intolerant world. Celebrating down-home American music, from Bluegrass to Honky-tonk to Southern Rock, and everything in between, Beaverquest! takes the audience on a wonderfully absurd and comedic venture into the forest, replete with misguided communications, wacky villagers, and of course, a beaver hunt. After all, “everyone is just looking for a little beaver.”
With book and lyrics by Padraic Duffy (Feet, The Mechanical Rabbit), music by Los Angeles musician Bobby Stapf, and direction by veteran Sacred Fools member, Scott Leggett (actor: The Swine Show – nominated for LA Weekly Award for Best Comedy Ensemble), the trio has assembled an extraordinarily talented cast. Both original leads from Serial Killers’ Beaverquest! join the cast: Beaver, played by Fools Member Corey Klemow (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Retro Radio) falls in love with Bunny, played by Fools Member Bryan Krasner (The God of Hell – Geffin Playhouse, TV - My Name is Earl, Brothers and Sisters). The show is produced in association with Sacred Fools by Emily Kosloski (actor: Les Miserables, Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings). Beaverquest! The Musical is also working promotionally with Onegoodlove.com, a social networking site dedicated to finding lasting love for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Launched in Jan. 2008 by founder Frank Mastronuzzi, it is a revolutionary social dating site dedicated to connecting those who are looking to find a long-term and meaningful relationship.
In little over a decade, Sacred Fools has earned 34 awards for its creative performances, most recently being nominated for the Outstanding Los Angeles Theatre Award at the 19th annual GLAAD Theatre Awards, and for several 2008 LA Weekly Awards. LA Weekly has called the group “one of the most provocative and whimsical theater troupes.” Sacred Fools Theater is located at 660 N. Heliotrope Avenue in Los Angeles. Founded in 1997, the Sacred Fools Theater Company is a 501-c3 non-profit organization.
