The Knightsbridge Theatre presents the Los Angeles premiere of Nagel Jackson's "Moliere Plays Paris," opens Sept. 6th.
One of the world’s greatest playwrights will come to life at the Knightsbridge Theatre this fall with the Los Angeles premiere of “Molière Plays Paris.” Nagle Jackson’s rarely staged play picks up the narrative of the playwright’s life in his 30s, as he returns to Paris with his troupe, I’llustre Theatre, hoping to win the patronage of the young King Louis XIV by performing for his court. Molière’s follies and the weight of his sudden success are conveyed by a talented cast that includes several Knightsbridge company members. Under Christina Howard’s direction, the actors are equally adept at staging Molière’s commedia dell’arte farces as they are at portraying the offstage drama that was his life at the time.
“Molière Plays Paris” runs Saturday, September 6–Sunday, October 12, 2008 (Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 6:00 p.m.) Tickets: $20 for adults; $18 for students and seniors over 65 (I.D. required). The Knightsbridge Theatre is located at 1944 Riverside Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90039, near the 2 and 5 freeways.
