Gallery Opening: "Eric Gill: Iconographer"

This exhibit will explore the controversial figure and prolific British artist/writer. Gill’s art and life were full of deep paradoxes; religion and erotic subjects filled his works, sometimes combining both in one piece. Holding strong religious beliefs, he was influenced by Catholicism yet conducted private life in an unorthodox manner. He dreamt of a utopian artist community, but often worked in self-imposed isolation. Drawings, engravings, woodcuts, typography and writings will be presented.
