A pivotal moment in television history and American culture is brilliantly portrayed in the Donmar Warehouse Production of Frost/Nixon, a new play by Peter Morgan ('The Queen' and 'The Last King of Scotland'), which will be presented at the Ahmanson Theatre as a special bonus option in the 2008-2009 season, for three weeks only, March 11 through 29, 2009.
A huge hit on the London and Broadway stage, Frost/Nixon was nominated for both the 2007 Laurence Olivier and the Tony Award for Best Play. The play is directed by Michael Grandage who also received a Tony Award nomination for his work on this compelling, real-life battle of wits between TV interviewer David Frost and former President Richard Nixon in March 1977.
Award-winning stage and screen actor Stacy Keach stars as Richard Nixon and leads a cast of 10 in the fast-paced production that asks the question, how did Frost, a British talk show host with a playboy reputation, elicit the apology from Nixon that the rest of the world had been waiting to hear? Frost/Nixon, with its fascinating character study, reveals the complex nature of the two men, who both had the determination, conviction and cunning to be equal partners in the no-holds-barred, on-air showdown.
